Adobe Firefly is Adobe’s family of generative AI models and its web and mobile app for creating images, video, audio and designs from text prompts. Firefly also powers features across Adobe’s apps, such as Generative Fill in Photoshop.
Firefly’s own models are trained on licensed content such as Adobe Stock and public-domain material, which is why many brands consider it safe for commercial work. Paid plans also give access to partner models from Google, OpenAI, Flux and others, all using a shared pool of generative credits.

Our experience using Adobe Firefly
Firefly is excellent for practical commercial images: product scenes, backgrounds, banners and photo edits. Generative Fill in Photoshop remains one of the most useful AI features for designers.
For pure artistic quality, Midjourney still produces more striking images, but having Google, OpenAI and Flux models alongside Firefly in one app makes Firefly a flexible all-in-one choice.
Who should use Adobe Firefly?
Adobe Firefly suits designers who already use Photoshop or Adobe Express, marketing teams that need commercially safe visuals, and creators who want image, video and audio generation in one subscription. Standard is enough for images; choose Pro or higher for video.
Adobe Firefly vs alternatives
Midjourney is the favorite for artistic images. Canva is easier for quick social graphics. Stable Diffusion is the open-source option you can run yourself. For AI video, compare Runway and Pika.
